Pewter

Established-business owners across the US

Describe your firm's systems without submitting record contents.

Fill in which systems you use, roughly how much is in each, and how many years they cover. The inventory holds no record contents. An AI model checks it for gaps and sees only system names and sizes.

Range from our licensing partner's payout model for US firms (October 2026), using headcount and years in business only. What your records hold, who owns them and what a buyer accepts decide the real number.

Could your firm qualify?

Traits of records that may qualify

  • At least 20 peopleFull-time employees, currently or at your highest point.
  • At least 3 yearsKept email, records and files spanning that period.
  • US-basedEnglish is the primary working language.
  • Whatever the statusWhether active, closing down, or already closed, provided records remain.

Records documenting skilled work in sequence attract greatest demand, across logistics, accounting, engineering, construction, distribution, manufacturing, trades and professional services. Records described as third-party, regulated or privileged may be excluded; meeting these criteria does not assure an offer.

Questions owners raise on call one

Does the inventory include my records?

No. You fill in which systems you use, roughly how much is in each, and how many years they cover. The inventory holds no record contents. An AI model checks it for gaps and sees only system names and sizes.

What will I pay?

There is no charge at any point. Pewter receives its fee from our licensing partner upon a deal's closing. Without a completed transaction, no fee is charged.

What is each party responsible for, and whose side are you on?

Pewter identifies and qualifies opportunities, assesses your records, presents the offer, and coordinates the deal. The licensing partner puts forward the offer, signs your license together with you, and pays you. Its identity is disclosed to you before your signature on any document. Since the partner pays our fee, we do not serve as your lawyer or agent. We are not a law firm or a registered broker-dealer, and we encourage you to have your own counsel review the agreement.

Will my data be taken from me?

No. The transaction licenses a mutually agreed, de-identified copy. Your original files remain unchanged, as does your ownership of them.

Could this expose clients or employees?

Before delivery, names, contact details, account numbers, credentials and payment details are either removed or replaced. You may exclude regulated, privileged or third-party records. Each approach leaves residual risk, so you examine the process and a sample before signing. Our approach to records.

Before signature, who can view my records?

Only with your consent. For a quality check ahead of an offer, we might request a small sample, which Pewter or the licensing partner could inspect. You decide its contents and may decline. The complete export takes place only after your signature.

Who gets to use the data, and why?

Authorized AI developers, to train and evaluate models as your agreement specifies. Your approved terms specify exclusivity alongside permitted uses. Our free owner's guide, Before You Sell Your Data, sets out the terms and questions to resolve before signing.

How many hours will my team need to spend?

Your time amounts to a few hours, including 2 or 3 calls and a concise inventory of systems in use. When an export becomes necessary, your IT contact or provider handles it while we coordinate. There is no requirement to produce fresh data or tidy anything.

What if I don't know what data we have?

That's true for most owners. Name the tools used over time (email, shared drives, your accounting or operating system), and during the call we'll identify what's there. Prefer to estimate the volume yourself first? Our free guide explains where to find the figures in Google, Microsoft 365, Slack and a dozen other tools.

Why move quickly?

Purchases by labs are happening now. A single AI data company has pledged $1 billion for the coming twelve months. The worth rests in the history still in your possession: if subscriptions lapse or a firm winds down, archives are deleted and that value disappears.
